Planet

As part of my commitment to sustainable design, I’ve established a set of principles aimed at minimizing the environmental impact of my work. While business goals occasionally take priority, I advocate for these principles whenever possible.

Energy Conservation & Net-Zero Products

When it comes to digital products, my primary sustainability goal is energy conservation. Servers can consume a lot of power, so I aim for lightweight designs featuring optimized visuals, streamlined code, and minimal interfaces. This approach ensures accessibility on older devices and slower networks, reducing electronic waste and the constant need for upgrades. Additionally, I promote the use of dark mode to save energy. Furthermore, I endorse the concept of net-zero digital products and offset the carbon footprint of this website through monthly donations to One Tree Planted.

Sustainable Materials

In print initiatives and physical experiences, I prioritize using sustainable materials. For instance, my business cards are crafted from FSC-certified 100% post-consumer recycled paper and designed to use minimal ink. While digital solutions are my preference, there are occasions when the unique appeal of paper enhances a project, and responsible sourcing can help mitigate any negative environmental impacts.

Closing

I understand that adhering to all of these principles isn’t always feasible, but I believe in setting ambitious goals. By doing so, I’m fulfilling my responsibility to the planet and (hopefully) inspiring others to embrace sustainable design practices, too.
