The Finger Lakes region’s rich history existed across disconnected sites without context or clear pathways. The regional tourism agency needed a mobile app to transform isolated touchpoints into a cohesive, engaging experience through interactive storytelling.
Challenge
The Finger Lakes region in upstate New York had rich history trapped in fragmented experiences. Visitors struggled to navigate between disconnected historical sites that provided brief information without context or clear pathways. The regional tourism agency identified an opportunity for a mobile virtual museum app to transform these isolated touchpoints into a cohesive, engaging journey.
Solution
I led production operations for this mobile app by applying user-centered design principles and systematic project management. Managing a large cross-functional team using Agile methodology, I ensured intuitive end-to-end user experiences while building comprehensive project systems. Through user research insights and direct collaboration with engineers, I helped streamline the discovery experience, creating connections between historical sites through engaging digital tours.
Impact
The Finger Lakes Virtual Museum successfully launched on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store, transforming visitor engagement with the region’s history. The app now provides intuitive, accessible storytelling that connects historical markers through interactive tours and augmented reality features. By maintaining user-focused design standards and rigorous project discipline, we delivered enhanced visitor satisfaction and meaningful cultural discovery for residents and tourists alike.
